American Alligators
Did You Know? Adult males can range from 11 to 16ft. in length! Which leads them to weighing over 1,000 pounds! Alligators can be found in any body of water. Do not get close to the water and if you see one, be sure to stay distant.
Florida Softshell Turtle
Did You Know? This turtle has a long neck and an elongated head with a long snorkel-like nose. It is the largest softshell turtle in North America. You will see them basking in the sun near one of Florida’s ponds or lakes. When they move, they are very quick.
Moon Jellyfish
Did You Know? This type of jellyfish feeds on plankton using the tentacles flowing from the bell, and is not harmful to humans. Found in nearly all of the world’s oceans. This is one of the most common jellyfish in Florida.
Brown Anole Lizard
Did You Know? As a defense mechanism, the brown anole can detach most of its tail when being pursued or captured. One of the most common lizards in Florida. You will find them everywhere. They are not poisonous and are not a threat to humans.
Black Widow
Did You Know? There are four species of widow spiders that you will find in Florida. The Southern Black Widow, Northern Black Widow, Red Widow and the Brown Widow. You can often identify a black widow spider for the red hour glass shape on its belly.
Sandhill Cranes
Did You Know? When in groups, you may witness them jump up and down or “dance” for no particular reason. You will often see them by bodies of water. Beautiful birds!
Blacktip Shark
Did You Know? These sharks often come inshore in large schools and can grow up to 8 feet in length! A dark bluish gray shark that bears a distinctive black tip on most fins.
Southern Copperhead
Did You Know? A typical adult copperhead is usually between 22 and 36 inches in length! They like damp areas around swamps, streams and river bends. However, they do live in suburban areas as well.

Did You Know? Florida Black bears are the largest animal that you will find on land in Florida! They are endangered and are rare to see in larger cities. However, if you are in the suburbs or country, you will be more likely to see one.
Florida Panther
